How to Easily Update Your Outdoor Space

With much of the country experiencing a very cold and snow filled winter, we’re happy to report that spring is right around the corner. It’s time to start thinking about how you can give your home’s outdoor space a pick-me-up for the warmer months are ahead. These easy ideas can all be incorporated over the weekend, but promise to give you a long season of enjoyable outdoor living.
  • Add a water feature.  Water features, such as bronze fountains, are a great way to add some visual interest, as well as some calming sounds to the outdoors. Water displays can also provide a great area for birds to bathe. You will be able to spend many afternoons relaxing in your backyard and watching a variety of birds enjoy themselves. Lastly, fountains will improve the overall attractiveness of your yard, boosting your home’s value. There are many options, so be sure to choose one that will match the style of your home and yard.

  • Give your entry a makeover.  The first thing people see when they approach your home is your front door and the area around it. Take some time this spring to spruce this area up. You can achieve this by slapping on a new coat of paint on your front door and window shutters. Don’t forget to purchase a crisp new welcome mat and beautiful blooming flowers to climb a trellis or support. These little touches will make a huge impact to your entry and will make your guests feel very welcome as they approach your home.
  • Add seating.  To open up your yard and make it more of a living space, consider adding some outdoor furniture. These additions will help bring the indoors out and give your family and guests a place to relax and enjoy the warmer temperatures and longer days. Choose furniture that is modern, comfortable and also functional (meaning that rain won't ruin it).
  • Plants and flowers are a must.  Another way to easily add some color and brightness to your yard is to add plants and flowers wherever you can. Select a variety of colors and shapes to accent your outdoor space, but don't forget about upkeep. If you only have a small amount of time to devote to care, opt for hardy varieties that don't need a lot of work and invest in a timed sprinkler system.
By including any or all of these additions to your yard, you’ll create an outdoor living space that will be enjoyed through the spring and summer, and well into the fall months.
